Tools for Raising Consciousness

Let’s create a world where conscious living is part of our daily existence. Today our world can be hectic and confusing because we are global more than ever. Our Soul yearns for a connection to who we really are and how that fits with the Earth.

I respect Stephen Covey’s Philosophy of “First Things First”. So let us start here and now with my “Tools for Raising Consciousness”. The first step is creating sacred space to anchor yourself.

1. Create sacred space in your home “workplace” nature. Create an Altar to honor your spiritual journey of peace and harmony. Create a steady meditation practice *9 minutes or 18 minutes, intuitive time frames. Create affirmations that inspire to your current experience and know that it changes.

2. Give gratitude(s) at the end of every day - gratitude creates. When you wake up, take a ew minutes and manifest your day with intention. Stay conscious with each breath - am I in my heart?, or am I in egoic fear/envy/negativity… Take your power back - speak your truth when it comes from your heart. Learn to say ‘no’ without an excuse or explanation, unless necessary. Speak directly to the person you are engaged in conversation with - truly listen. Be brave - let go of the old ears that hold you back from living life fully. Engage in a regular disciplined daily practice for 30-40 days to create a new pattern.

3. Create mantras of sound that lift your spirit and remove negative energies. Create a sound verse/prayer to send dark force energies back to their Source. Use harmonic music (never discordant!). Learn to use instruments ie drums, flute, guitar. Create sound to distinguish negative energies ie Tibetan bowl, sound chimes, singing bowls. Try allotting one ay each month to silence.

4. Use a journal. Read/study something every day. Understand your personal strengths and weaknesses with no judgment or expectation. Write your thoughts, feelings, actions. Enhance your brain power with crosswords, puzzles, games and cards. Create a vision/dream board to support your intention or the year. Define your personal, professional, and spiritual goals. Write a five-year plan then let it go and trust the momentum of movement. Include community volunteering in your yearly plan. Include country and world travel in your 5-year plan.

5. Eat a plant based diet to support the healthy existence of your body and the Earth mother’s body. Eliminate refined sugar from your diet (refined sugar is poison) - use natural sugars. Move your body with your blood types preference ie yoga, tai chi, qi gong, martial arts, swimming, fast walking, hiking, dance, find balance. Save the competitive or extreme sport for Blood Type O. Walk every day in nature for 20 minutes. Use breath work in your daily routine - breath from the abdomen not from your chest.

6. Eliminate hard liquor, hard drugs, cigarettes, processed foods, rom your lie. Use soft alcoholic beverage if you must ie organic wines, local beers, local weed. Use natural substances ie mushrooms, and ayahuasca with a shaman, for ceremony one.

MEDITATION:- Now you are ready for a meditation practice. Not everyone is able to quiet the mind so an alternative to sitting is to take a 20 minute daily walk in nature by yourself - perhaps with your dog or with a friend who will respect your silence.

1. Find a quiet place at home; a place that you can go to every day without disturbance or distraction. Set aside 9 minutes for total beginner (use a timer) and work up to 18 minutes for the next level. The same time each day is preferrable but not necessary.

2. Use a cushion on the floor that allows your hips and knees to open naturally - use a flat cushion under your knee(s) so there is no discomfort. Over time there will be no discomfort or there will be little notice of it as your meditation practice deepens. If you cannot sit on the floor please use a flat-backed chair where you feet touch the floor.

3. Make sure the room is a comfortable temperature or use a shawl, pashmina or blanket to stay warm but not hot. Your body temperature will increase as you drop into your practice - a raised vibration creates heat.

3. Place a lighted candle in front of you, and if you do not have one, use a flower or object of beauty to gaze at. Begin your session with three soft belly breaths (next) then close your eyes slightly and focus on the candle flame.

4. You want to be relaxed. You want to diminish or release the busyness of the day - Begin with 3 Belly Breaths:- First - INHALE fill belly & EXHALE breath from belly - drawing navel back toward spine; Second - INHALE fill belly then fill heart chest & EXHALE breath from heart chest, then breath from belly - drawing navel back toward spine; Third - INHALE fill belly then fill heart chest then fill thymus chest & EXHALE breath from thymus chest, then heart chest, then breath from belly - drawing navel back toward spine.

5. Your body is relax enough to begin. Either close your eyes or gaze down at the blue-violet light of your candle’s flame. Continue with a soft belly breath - a natural breath.

6. Imagine this blue-violet light surrounding your whole body, and perhaps your room.

7. With imagination & visualization, move your focus to your inner eye, your Third Eye chakra - that space between & slightly above your eyebrows. When you move your index & middle fingers to your forehead without thinking, they will automatically be drawn to your Third Eye.

8. As your relax and focus on your Third Eye, you may begin to hear or know of the thoughts surrounding your head. Sit still and just watch your thought revolve around your head like a globe. Give them the freedom to roam for a while, then begin to watch the space between each thought. All this without judgement or expectation. When you are ready, tell your thoughts to float away and watch them float away. Stay relaxed.

9. This is a wonderful exercise for practicing “No Thought”. You commit to 9 full breaths. Through each full breath there is to be no thought interfering with your breath. If a thought comes in, then start again at breath 9. Slowly breath from Inhale-Exhale 9 backwards, down to Inhale-Exhale 0, with no thoughts.

10. A meditator eventually gets to the sacred place where he/she just ‘knows’ when the meditation is over. There is no time - time is an illusion created for mankind on Earth.
